MSP Title II B Grant presents Math Solutions Summer 2012 Workshop - Exploring Geometry and Measurement
The MSP Title II B Mathematics Grant is pleased to announce Year III with Math Solutions! Exploring Geometry and Measurement, is the third and final course in the series. The course will address in depth the mathematical content and instructional strategies necessary for developing students' geometric and measurement thinking. Participants explore what is meant by geometric and measurement thinking and how geometric & measurement concepts can be applied at various grade levels. Teachers will learn through a series of problem-solving investigations how to teach geometric & measurement concepts and skills that involve two and three dimensional shapes, analyze attributes and make generalizations about specific shapes, importance of measurement tools, estimation, and benchmarks for measureing. Complex tasks are incorporated and developed to provide differentiated math tasks to elementary & middle school students.

Dates: July 11, 12, 13 and July 16, 17, 18 (last session for P-Credit people or make-up)

Time: 8:30am - 4:00pm Daily
P-Credit people must attend all 6 sessions. All others must attend the first 5 sessions.
If you are taking the course for P-Credits, FIRST YOU WILL NEED PERMISSION FROM MARY LOU WAINWRIGHT TO REGISTER WITH ASPDP. MARY LOU WILL SEND A SEPARATE EMAIL FOR PERMISSION TO REGISTER WITH ASPDP!!
Once you are given permission, you must register with ASPDP prior to the beginning of the course at http://schools.nyc.gov/Teacher/aspdp - make suyre that you save your email confirmation and a copy of your credit/debit card statement. Your statement will show a charge to "Voluntary Afterschool Program" for $125. Both of these documents are necessary for reimbursement after successful completion of the course, which includes attendance and homework. There will be homework assignments as required by ASPDP.
Please review the policy and procedures at ASPDP's website!!! You are required to attend the first session, otherwise you will not be eligible for P-Credits. You are also only allowed 1 absence (a total of 6 hours), anything above that will also disqualify you from receiving P-Credits!!!
