Moving Against Racism in the Arts
Thursday, February 20, 2014 | 12PM-2PM
The Alloy Studio, 5530 Penn Ave.
Facilitators: Etta Cetera, Julia Willis, Esther Baker-Tarpaga
Presented by Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council’s Pittsburgh Coalition for Racial Equity in the Arts, WWHAT’S UP Pittsburgh, and Baker & Tarpaga Dance Project
Inspired by Baker & Tarpaga Dance Project’s Beautiful Struggle this workshop encourages participants to examine the (in)visibility of race and privilege and how violence and love live on in the fabric of our arts organizations and ourselves. We’re forgoing the panel discussion model in favor of a candid community conversation with movement, writing, and small group sharing to set us in motion to listen, learn, and lead. The workshop is specifically designed for artists, arts administrators, and patrons of the arts who are interested in working together to create positive change for all.
Lunch is provided by Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council
Limited to 70 participants. Registration required.
