Event Details

Director: Sergei Loznitsa. Russia, 2005.

This screening is dedicated to 70th anniversary of the Leningrad Blockade Lifting.

Blockade of Leningrad was the longest siege during World War II. It lasted for 900 days, from September 1941 to January 1944, when Hitler attempted to starve the Soviet city of three million people into submission.

The movie “Blockade” features a meticulously reconstructed and state-of- the-art soundtrack added to the rarely-seen black-and-white silent footage from Soviet film archives. The result gives viewers the impression of being not just an observer but virtually a participant in the events as they unfold on the streets of Leningrad.

Duration of screening: 50 min.

The survivor of siege will be present at the screening.
