Morningside College

Department of Music

Music is one of Morningside's greatest traditions. The department of Music continues a tradition that began more than 100 years ago with the founding of the Morningside Conservatory of Music. It has been a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1936. Today, extensive training and experience in music is offered to students wishing to prepare for professional careers in performance and teaching, and to those who simply value the importance of music in their lives.

Morningside offers a comprehensive program for both majors and non-majors. Students may participate in Wind Ensemble, jazz band, pep band, small chamber groups, as well as the brand new addition of marching band.

The “Marching Mustangs” will hit the field next fall with all new equipment and uniforms. The “Marching Mustangs” will present innovative and creative shows at home football games and regional competitions. The “Marching Mustangs” will also offer a chance for students interested in color guard to perform.

Morningside offers talent awards to participate in our ensembles regardless of major. Talent awards offer up to $5,000 towards college tuition in addition to academic scholarships that may be earned, making Morningside an affordable choice for college.
