From the trailhead at the campsite we'll hike about a half mile through huckleberries and brush before entering mature forest. The trail then follows a long ridge to the summit. We'll pass old whitebark pine stands and rock gardens full of wildflowers and catch glimpses east and west as we traverse the ridge. From the summit, formerly a fire lookout, there are views of Moose Lake 1,700 feet below, Glacier National Park to the east and the rest of the Whitefish Range including Coal Ridge Lookout to the north. Sightings of bears and other predators are always possible in this remote area only an hour from town. Please bring lunch and plenty of water.
Rocky Mountain Outfitter in Kalispell is proud to support this walk.
