Moms and their tweens will come together for an interactive and hands on half day workshop to discuss our role as global citizens. The morning will include panels of both moms and tweens, community leaders and role models and hands on activities including writing letters and communicating to members of Congress and creating a video about the power of our voices.
Topics that will be discussed:
This workshop is a great first step for tweens and their parents who are looking to use their voice in a more active and intentional way. Deep experience in advocacy or social good work is not required to attend. The hope is that the conversations from the workshop will help make being a global citizen and change agent or advocate, more a part of our every day lives in ways that are meaningful to each attendee.
This event is designed for moms and their tweens (ages 8-12).
Agenda for the morning:
- Registration & Breakfast: 8:30-9:15
- Interactive Discussion 9:15-12:00 (with a mid morning break)
While we know that there are many mature 7 year old out there, for space and activity purposes, we request that only 8-12 year old tweens attend the event.
The event will be live-streamed so that other children and ages can participate virtually.
The event fee for attendees will be used to help cover costs of the event. ANY and ALL remaining monies will be donated to Shot@Life, (http://www.shotatlife.org).
Special thanks to the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner for hosting the event.
