About the Lecture

The First Amendment was written to protect the right to a free press. The founders thought that the free market of ideas would lead to a relentless search for the truth and that would serve as the ultimate check on the powers of the government.

But, what if the press became so bent to one viewpoint that they ignored or even misrepresented the opposing message?  Would you trust a press that didn’t want the truth to get in the way of a good story?

A recent Gallup poll said that distrust in the U.S. Media has hit an all time high. Sixty Percent of Americans have little or no trust in the mass media to accurately and fairly report the news.

Please join us for this sixty-minute lecture with an extensive question and answer period to discuss why we have such a distrust of the mass media.
