The MO Love Climate Network is organizing a trip to Washington DC to join 25,000 other activists at the "Forward on Climate Rally" on Sunday, February 17. This will be the LARGEST CLIMATE RALLY IN U.S. HISTORY. For more info, check out this invitation and this video.
Below is a brief itinerary of the weekend.
- Friday, Feb 15: We will depart for DC from WashU in St. Louis at 8:00 pm. We will drive overnight (sleeping on the bus) and arrive in DC on Saturday morning.
- Saturday, Feb 16: In the afternoon there will be a Missouri climate activist networking event, followed by an optional evening of site seeing.
- Sunday, Feb 17: On Sunday morning, we'll attend a youth convergence event organized by the Energy Action Coalition followed by the actual Forward on Climate Rally from 12 - 4 pm EST. We should be on the road around 5:30 pm (shortly after the rally ends).
- Monday, Feb 18: We will arrive back at WashU by roughly 9 am CST.
We are working to find housing from other students or friends of our group, so ideally no one will need to pay for a hotel on Saturday night. However, you will be on your own for food costs while in DC. Also budget about $20 for the cost of public transportation while in DC for the weekend.
We are asking students to pay $40 in order to ride the bus. If this is too much for you, please let us know and we will work to make other arrangements.
If you have the funds to do so, please consider purchasing the standard ticket or high-cost ticket to help us fundraise to send additional students to DC! We unfortunately have greater student interest in attending the Forward on Climate Rally than we have available seats for this bus, but we do not currently have funding for any additional transportation. We will try to send vans if we have enough funding and excess student/community member interest.
IF THE TICKETS SELL OUT, PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE WAITLIST. We will be contacting people on the waitlist to work on arranging alternative transportation to DC.
Please e-mail Adam Hasz at email@example.com if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest, and we hope you can join us for the Forward on Climate Rally!
