MnSearch Presents: Local University Twin Cities 2012Join the Minnesota Search Engine Marketing Association on September 28th for Local University: Twin Cities, the premier day-long workshop about Internet marketing for Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area businesses. The Local U 2012 edition is being brought to you in Partnership with Google, Deluxe for Business, and Progressive Insurance.

We’re bringing in some of the nation’s leading online marketing for an intensive day-long crash course in Internet marketing that will help you navigate the possibilities for marketing your business on the web. You’ll learn Search Engine Optimization tips and techniques that will lead to sustained, long-term search engine rankings (and new customers).

 

Date: Friday, September 28th, 2012

Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Morning Session will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
  • Afternoon Session will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
  • Networking Happy Hour from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location: Deluxe Corporation in Shoreview, MN off of 694, between 35W and 35E.

This Local University is going to be original. We have a full-day option that includes lunch, and 2 half-day sessions that you can choose from; an in-depth morining of search topics and the advanced afternoon sessions with a happy hour where you can network with attendees, presenters and MnSearch members.

Mike Ramsey will bring attendees up-to-speed on some of the key concepts in Local Search, including the basics of how search engine results are generated, and identifying some key areas of opportunity for small businesses online.
8:30 - 8:55 On-Page Search Engine Optimization
On-Page search engine optimization is still the first step toward higher rankings at both Google and Bing. Mary Bowling will take a look at what's needed to let the search engines know what your business is all about and help improve your rankings.
8:55 - 9:20 What's New in Social Media?
Hear from Deluxe's Dan Garfield about what's working for small businesses in social media, including Twitter, Facebook, and your Number One social asset (you'll have to come to the session to find out what it is!).
9:20 - 9:45 Making the Most of Mobile
If you're not yet considering mobile options for your business, now is the time to start thinking about them. Aaron Weiche gives you the lay of the mobile landscape and identifies no-brainer opportunities for your business to capitalize on.

10:15 - 10:45 Going Local with Google
Learn how to use Google's local products to acquire new customers, while also engaging and retaining existing ones. We'll start by walking through claiming your Place page, and then explore other local products.
10:45 - 11:25 Ranking in Local Searches
Mike Blumenthal aka "Professor Maps" will take us through a nuts & bolts of how to improve your rankings for searches in the Twin Cities.
11:25 - 11:45 Prioritizing Your $h*t
So, this online marketing stuff is kind of overwhelming. We know. David Mihm helps you sort it all out, based on your competition, available time, budget, and internal resources, and prescribes specific time management strategies for various combinations of the four.
