2013 MMA Youth Seminar
(An Event For Youth And Parents)
MMA 2013 proudly presents 'Youth Seminar' for the school age youth. Parts of this program are helpful for students of all ages [Elementary, Middle and high school] and the parents. We are fortunate to get a significant support from various sources. Please see the description and timings below and plan on attending sessions that interest you and your youth. All students must be accompanied by Parents or Adults. We are delighted to extend this invitation to students from all other communities [Non-MMA]. Please do invite your friends and neighbors to this unique event.
2PM-2:50PM Science For The Kids by Dr. Bal Phondke
Dr. Phondke’s mission is to popularize science among the elementary and middle school [ 8 – 16 ] students. He is going to talk about science and session will include some interesting experiments as well. Dr. Phondke has played a key role in designing radio and television shows to popularize science. His hard work has been recognized and honored by many awards.
3PM - 3:25PM Cyber Safety by Ameya Houde and Team
Our own Ameya Houde has been very active in multiple activities and has offered to review this topic with our students [ 8 – 16] and their parents. This presentation will cover the security aspect as well as criminal /Legal aspect of the internet activity.
3:30PM – 3:55PM Dream Takshila, An Inspirational True Story By Mr. Rajesh Kumar
Without the bare necessities in life such as electricity, warm clothes, shoes to wear during the cold winter in Northern India, and working as a brick kiln factory worker at the age of 15, Rajesh strived to complete his professional education. Rajesh Kumar, born to an illiterate family, is a technocrat and has worked with leading national and international companies. Mr Rajesh Kumar will share his life story and his second mission to pay it forward, the Takshila Education. This is great inspirational talk and opportunity for volunteering.
4PM – 4:25PM Siemen’s Student’s Mentoring Program By Raymond Persaud [Siemens]
Raymond is a young engineer from GATech. He is part of the Siemen’s mission and visits area schools to share his job experience, responsibilities and how did he reach there with students. He also coaches Robotics team at North View high school. He will share his experience with us.
4:30PM – 5:20 PM How Do You Prepare For The Right College? A MMA Senior Youth Discussion Panel
Our graduates [school Grads/College Grads] are working on this session for students- age group 13-18 or higher. Topics such as SAT, Essays, High school life, college selection, scholarships, internships and summer programs will be covered for eligible students and parents.
5.30PM – 6.00 PM : Grassroot Leadership Workshop by Nikhil Shirke and participants
This 30 minute workshop is a pioneering effort to highlight leadership traits and characteristics that most organizations are currently seeking. Come and participate in an interactive workshop on Leadership skills with other MMA members, and share your thoughts on what it would take for our future leaders to succeed in personal and professional life.
We also have some educational and extracurricular booths like C2, Math & Kids, Acharna's, AP tutors, Table Tennis, Aparna's Dance Academy set up for you to visit and get your questions answered. Your presence and response will make this event a big success. Please mark your calendars and save the date, you do not want to miss this opportunity.
