Event Details

The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity, in collaboration with the Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center,United Way of King County, and the MLK Celebration Committee, invites you to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr on January 20th, 2014. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will begin with a kick off event in the Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center, featuring inspirational speeches, coffee, tea and pastries, and the opportunity to pick up free t-shirts provided by United Way! Make sure to sign up, and register your student organization to march with us! While some MLK Day of Service participants will be departing from the kick-off to attend service projects throughout King County, we are organizing a group to participate in Rise Up! Restore the Dream! Seattle’s annual march and celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy. OMA&D Ethnic Cultural Center

For 41 years, The Ethnic Cultural Center has been working hard promoting an inclusive and educational environment on campus by providing programs and services which enhance the communication and exchange of multicultural perspectives and values.

We believe that  significant learning takes place outside of the classroom for students, and their involvement in student organizations and programs contributes significantly to students' academic studies, the University community, and enhances the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students.
