MLK Day of Service 2013
Monday, January 21, 2013 from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM (PST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The 2013 MLK Day of Service will occur during UAB's Community Week and is a student-led initiative during which more than 300 of UAB and Miles students will participate in projects in the Birmingham area. This year UAB is collaborating with Miles College. Student groups from each school are co-sponsoring the event. Co-sponsors from UAB include the Leadership and Service Council, the Black Student Awareness Committee, and the Multicultural Council. The Student Government Association, Bear Paws, and the UNCF from Miles College will also serve as co-sponsors.
Participation in this day of organized projects leads to many students continuing their commitment to service and civic engagement on an ongoing basis. We also hope this will lead to more collaboration between UAB and Miles College students to positively impact our metropolitan area.
UAB and Miles students will meet at the Hill University Center Great Hall on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:30am for a brief program and select service locations. Lunch will be provided. Students will serve at their designated sites from 1pm-4pm.
