MIT Wind Ensemble, Frederick Harris, Jr., music director, Kenneth Amis, assistant conductor. Evan Ziporyn, guest composer and bass clarinet soloist. Strauss, Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments; Gauger, Gainsborough for percussion ensemble; Bennett, Suite of Old American Dances; Berlioz, Hungarian March; Copland, Down a Country Lane; Ziporyn, Drill.  8PM, Kresge Auditorium. Free in advance. $5 at the door.

Faculty and teaching staff help students understand art’s demand for rigor and discipline and its non-quantitative standards of excellence and beauty. A strong, comprehensive program in both music and theater arts—encompassing history, theory, and performance—is taught by faculty and staff of the highest caliber.
