Short Description of the Presentation
Mission Critical Standby Systems – This type of standby power system provides power to critical
operations power systems (COPS) for public safety, national security, or business continuity reasons. Electrical equipment and wiring that serve these designated critical operation areas must remain operational during a natural or man-made disaster. The National Electrical Code (NEC) describes the engineering practices for mission critical facilities, which go beyond the requirements for emergency and legally required standby systems. In addition to specific code requirements, design engineers as well as authorities having jurisdiction must know the requirements for the installation, operation, control, and maintenance of standby power for mission critical facilities.
Our presenter will be Paul O'Hara, the General Manager of Mission Critical and Technical Communications for Cummins Pacific, the largest distributor of generators, automatic transfer switches and paralleling gear in California. He is a BSME from the University of Minnesota. He is a registered P.E. in California and has been helping consultants apply on site power generation to facilities for over 30 years. He has successfully delivered emergency backup solutions at wide range of facilities including Hospitals/Medical Centers, Water & Wastewater Plants, Data Centers, College Campuses, and critical Military installations.
