Are you constantly being asked to do more with less? Does the 24-hour accessibility of email and social media add anxiety to your already busy life? Are you able to act in accordance with your values in the midst of stress? Do you know how to move past conflict in relationship so both parties can thrive?
This course is designed to provide you with new tools so you can more effectively manage your work and life. Based on the science of neuroplasticity, you will learn how attention training, mindfulness, and meditation techniques can rewire your brain to create the conditions for focus, clarity, creativity, connection, and health. You will be introduced to mental training concepts, guided through mindfulness practices, assisted in reflecting on your practices, and taught hands-on applications.
You will walk away with five frameworks you can employ immediately. The five frameworks are: (1) training your attention for greater focus, (2) understanding your intrinsic leadership principles, (3) mastering your emotions so you can act in accordance with your principles, (4) accurately assessing yourself and (5) engaging in healthy conversation to move past conflict in relationship.
After this course, you will be invited to gauge your own progress along metrics such as focus, empathy, insight, and overall wellbeing. You will also be supported in your ongoing efforts with an invitation to participate in our online forum for alumni.
Each participant receives proprietary curriculum materials including meditations, exercises, and ongoing resource support. Meals, specialty coffees and teas, and healthy snacks will be provided.
Northwestern University’s beautiful lakefront campus in Evanston IL. Room location is on the second floor of the Norris Center.
Instruction Provided By:
Daphne Mazarakis, Founder and Speaker/Author/Instructor of Thinking Within LLC. Daphne is a classically trained executive and two-time entrepreneur, familiar with the challenges of running operations large and small. Daphne is a student of mindfulness and has taken courses at institutions like Stanford's Center for Compassion and Altruism. In addition to running and operating businesses, Daphne has advised businesses on mindfulness and attention training. Daphne is a graduate of Northwestern University and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Joseph Holtgreive, Lecturer, Assistant Dean, and Director of the McCormick Office of Personal Development at Northwestern University. In addition to advising students through his leadership of the Office of Personal Development, Joe is an educator, counselor, and trained mediator. Joe has collaborated with colleagues across campus to create and deliver curriculum on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and design thinking. Joe is also an inventor and coaches students on innovation and entrepreneurship. Joe is a graduate of Northwestern University and holds a EdM from Harvard University's School of Education.
