As community leaders, we know that collaboration is critical to our ability to tackle serious issues. The question is - How do we foster conditions that maximize public engagement and minimize segmentation and duplication of effort? As many of you know, the San Antonio Area Foundation is deeply involved with strengthening our community’s capacity to serve our neighbors in need. Unfortunately, many of our military community members face challenges and barriers that create a difficult transition into the civilian world.
A core group of organizations, including the San Antonio Area Foundation, AACOG, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the San Antonio Coalition for Veterans and Families, have been talking with other concerned leaders in our community and we believe that in “Military City USA,” we can work together to remove these barriers and solve these problems. Our efforts must be action-oriented, so I hope you’ll join us for an inaugural meeting of a Military Community Leaders’ Council during “Got Your 6” week.
