Dr. Barbara Brodie, our renowned speaker, is the Madge Jones Professor of Nursing, Emerita, and the Associate Director of the Eleanor Crowder Bjoring Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry at the University of Virginia. Dr. Brodie has published extensively on nursing history including the 2010 history of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing with co-authors Drs. Arlene Keeling and John Kirchgessner. This talk focusses on nursing’s role in the devastating Chicago school fire in which 92 pupils and 3 nuns perished.
Refreshments and discussion will immediately follow the lecture.
