"Mourning to Morning: A Book about Grief, Death, Heaven and Healing"

Istanbul Center and the Atlantic Institute are pleased to host Mayor Linda Blechinger in the Midtown Luncheon Series for a lecture and book signing

Linda Blechinger is the Mayor of the City of Auburn, GA. She and her husband Dan moved to Georgia in 1989 and raised their sons in the Auburn community over the past 18 years. Linda worked in the defense manufacturing field as a manager before settling down to motherhood. While raising her boys she earned certificates in Christian counseling through Light University. Deciding it was time to get involved with her city by volunteering for Parks and Recreation which she chaired. She then decided to run for city council. Serving for a year before she ran for the Mayor’s seat winning in 2007. The City of Auburn has seen quite a turnaround under Linda’s administration and is undergoing major redevelopment. The City of Auburn is located in both Barrow and Gwinnett Counties. Linda serves both counties as well as the state wide Georgia Municipal Association.

Linda wrote and published her first book, “Mourning to Morning: A Book about Grief, Death, Heaven and Healing” which was rereleased in 2011. The book will make you laugh, cry and ponder life and death and life after death. This is a book that will challenge you to believe in more than you can see, feel and hear. People will experience all kinds of heartaches and disappointments in this world, pain and grief are a part of life however you can experience healing.

"From Mourning to Morning" is an account of learning to trust God as He walks us through the deepest pain we could possibly imagine. It is filled with insight and truth. Poignant and sweet "From Mourning To Morning" will bless you with a story you will tell over and over again.

RSVP is required to reserve your seat and tickets are $10 per person.

*Lunch will be served and books will be available for purchase.*

The Atlantic Institute

Atlantic Institute is an independent, non-profit organization headquartered in Atlanta  whose goal is to facilitate dialogue and bridge cultures around the globe. For a better world of peace and understanding, we would like to develop public awareness for diverse cultures, beliefs, traditions, and opinions. We strongly believe in the spirit of the United States of America that celebrates diversity as richness. With our  branches in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina, we have been able to dedicate our efforts and resources for building cross-cultural and interfaith dialogue.

Atlantic Institute is a non-profit civic organization that provides various academic and educational platforms to promote diversity in our society. We are significantly influenced by the teachings and writings of Mr. Fethullah Gulen who emphasizes the importance of education, dialogue and understanding in cross-cultural engagement. These universal values are esteemed by many previous scholars and leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Rumi, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This gives us hope and motivation that we can find common denominators as the global citizens of the world.

Through a wide range of activities that bring local community members from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, we seek to proactively contribute to educational, cultural, social, and humanitarian issues in our community. We believe in the power of personal interaction and communicative dialogue as they are the best channels to build mutual understanding, trust, and harmony for a peaceful world.
