PowerShell for DB Pros
PowerShell is the de facto scripting language for the Windows environment. It provides solid capabilities comparable to the shells we've seen in other operating systems like Unix and BSD. As Microsoft continues to move forward with its products, PowerShell only gains in importance.
Besides all that, PowerShell is very useful to the DB profession, both on a day-to-day basis and for performing administrative tasks via scripts. In this session we'll look at how to use PowerShell as an effective replacement for the command shell and to administer SQL Server quickly without having to wait for SQL Server Management Studio to load. We'll also look at how to use PowerShell in scripts to automate key functions like sending email, running backups, checking services, etc.
