Microsoft Power BI: Redmond’s BI Stack Goes Mobile and Cloud
Microsoft's Power BI is a new Office 365 cloud-hosted offering that stacks together Power Pivot, Power View, Power Query (formerly “Data Explorer") and Power Map (formerly “GeoFlow”) along with SharePoint Online. Data visualizations are authored in Excel 2013 and can be viewed in a browser, or via tablet apps for Windows 8, Windows RT and even the iPad.
Speaker Andrew Brust, who covers Big Data and analytics for ZDNet and GigaOM Pro, recently published a Pluralsight course, “Excel: An Analytics Superhub,” which covers in-depth the various components that make up Power BI, so his interest in the product was strong even before it was revealed. To top it off, Andrew was among the first to be invited to preview Power BI and in this session he’ll show you all he’s learned.
