Michigan Genealogical Council Breakfast at FGS
Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 6:45 AM to 8:00 AM (EDT)
Fort Wayne, IN
Join fellow Michigan researchers from around the US and the world at the Michigan Genealogical Council Breakfast to begin the final day of the 2013 Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference in Ft. Wayne at the world renowned Allen County Public Library. We will have a buffet breakfast in one of the first floor meeting rooms in the library. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk with fellow Michigan residents, former residents, and those with roots in the Great Lakes state. There will be two brief presentations about research opportunities in Michigan, and the War of 1812 Preserve the Pensions Project. Any profits from the breakfast goes to Preserve the Pensions. This project is a joint effort of FGS, the National Archives, Fold 3 and Ancestry.com. The War of 1812 Pension records represent the most requested record set at the National Archives by researchers in Washington D.C.
The Michigan Genealogical Council has been encouraging our member societies and their individual members contribute to Preserve the Pensions. As a border state, Michigan played an important role in the War of 1812.
This is an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for future researchers. Best of all, is the dollar for dollar matching by Ancestry.com. Your gift doubles. $25 becomes $50, $50 becomes $100, and $250 becomes $500, etc. instantly! These images will be available FREE, FOREVER, on Fold3.com.
