TOWARDS MICHIGAN LIBERTY, FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY
THIS IS THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR MICHIGAN'S CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT.
Our goal is to put together the top conservative activists leaders with the top conservative academics, think tanks and business leaders for a most excellent day of networking and learning. Our movement has unprecedented width with thousands of great activists, as we saw with more than 60,000 volunteer hours to pass Labor Freedom laws that were signed 12/11/12 and went into effect 3/28/13. We need more depth. More trained leadership. A common measuring stick of what is conservative and what our priorities will be. And we need to strategize. If you qualify, please set the day aside and REGISTER TODAY!
The program will start with registration and continental breakfast beginning at 8AM (doors will be open at 7:30 AM).
9:00 AM There will be an opening plenary session that will feature an introduction to the day; definition of Conservative; and "state of the movement" report by Chair Norm Hughes. Moderator: Marcy Jankovitz; speaker Stacy Swimp: Moving Forward.
9:30 AM First Session on LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATIONS with presentations on Inspiring more and better activism, improved communications and great Media relations. Moderator: Jay McNally; Speakers: Kathy Hoekstra, John Mularoni, Thayrone X.
11:00 AM Second Session on MICHIGAN CONSERVATIVE POLICY GOALS with legislative updates and presentations on education, labor, taxation, government growth and deregulation. Speakers: Sen. Patrick Colbeck, Rep.Tom McMillin, Jack McHugh, Scott Hagerstrom.
12:30 PM CELEBRATING LABOR FREEDOM Banquet, with keynote address and brief testimonials by the grass roots leaders who gave us Michigan Freedom To Work. Speakers: Foster Friess, Brian Pannebecker, Tim Bos, Katie Meister, Norm Hughes, others TBD.
2:00 PM Third Session THE PERMANENT THINGS with presentations on what is essential for a free and independent society; the historical basis for the American experiment; the research our Founders made that lead to our Constitution; and its moral, religious and economic underpinnings. Speakers: Dr. Harry C. Veryser, Dr. John M. Pafford, Hon. Michael Warren.
3:30 PM Fourth Session on NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POLICY with presentations on the Chinese and Muslin threats, and the UN/Agenda 21 programs of diminished nationalism. Moderator, Terri Lynn Land; Speakers: Dr. William Kauffman, Burl Adkins, David Agema.
5:00PM Closing session with reports from Political Leaders; Q&A by participants.
We have confirmed May 4, 2013 as the date for Michigan Conservative Political Action Conference to be held at Ramada Lansing Hotel and Conference Center, 7501 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, Mi. 48917. The base price is $ 50.00. IF there is a penny of profit it will be reserved for the Michigan conservative movement and its many programs and candidates. There will be a table discount, couples discount, and limited full or partial scholarships for unemployed movement conservatives and youth. There will be sponsorship opportunities. Michigan Conservative Union was organized in 1975 as a coalition of Michigan's brightest and most active conservative leaders. Our Board consists of leaders of several grass roots organizations, academics and philosophical leaders. This is the place where the many aspects and branches of conservatism can work together - economic, social, 1st, 2nd and 10th Amendment, national defense, liberty, traditional, religious, moral and classical liberal. Our major public programs include an annual Michigan Conservative Politicial Action Conference and Rating Of the Legislature. Annual dues are $25.00.
