The Michael Shields Memorial Inshore Open is excited to announce that this year’s tournament proceeds will benefit Project LIFT! The tournament will be held on September 26-27, 2014. This year’s inshore fishing tournament is aimed at raising critically needed funds to support the operations of Project LIFT. Specifically, we have selected that this year’s proceeds be used toward the down payment for the new Project LIFT Facility, in memory of Michael Shields.
The tournament will be hosted by River Palm Cottages and Fish Camp in Jensen Beach, Florida. Activities will commence with a Captain’s Reception on the evening of September 26, 2014, and will conclude with an Awards Ceremony and BBQ on September 27th. Anglers will fish for Snook, Tarpon, Redfish and Trout, and will be awarded points based on the length of each qualifying fish. The fish will be photographed and released, in an effort to conserve the environment for our future anglers.
When & Where
Members of Project LIFT will engage in developing life, employment, and behavioral skills. They will learn how to manage their anger, attitude and/or emotions, including depression, anxiety, impulse issues and substance abuse, while also receiving employment training in areas such as auto repair, tiling, plumbing, auto body, boat building and general carpentry.
Many of our youth are also in need of continuity, security, and academic assistance, which is why Project LIFT provides a certified educator to help with academic shortcomings.
