'MERICA! 5 Mile Trail Race
Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM (CDT)
Palatine Township, Illinois
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
There are many things that define America: democracy, independence, freedom, Bald Eagles, pride, and crushing consumer debt.
There are many things that define what has come to be known as ‘MERICA!: mullets, jean shorts, canned beer, NASCAR, and anything colored with the red, white, and blue.
What better way to spend celebrating our independence from the British than by celebrating all the things that make us truly different from all other countries!
Hit the beautiful trails of Deer Grove Forest Preserve (http://goo.gl/maps/uKJZl) over the holiday weekend and celebrate ‘MERICA! The course will take you over roots, rocks, downed trees, and other natural obstacles that will make this run crazier than any casting director who thinks Lindsay Lohan would make a good fit for a lead role. The course is friendly enough for new trail runners, but still holds some challenges for the most crazed trail nut.
Following the race we will have a ‘MERICA BBQ with hot dogs, brats, beer, soft drinks, and good ole’ ‘MERICAN music.
There will be a ‘MERICA! costume contest, so bust out your mullet wigs, inappropriately short cut off jeans, NASCAR shirts, and anything that represents the red, white, and blue (bonus points for cuff off shirts featuring eagles or big trucks!). The winners will receive a ‘MERICA! themed prize!
All runners will receive a ‘MERICA shirt, ‘MERICA finisher’s award, free hot dogs, brats, and beers, a ‘MERICA bib, and the greatest time you can have outside of tailgating with some rednecks at a tractor pull.
This race will count towards the Popes of Avignon and Plenary Indulgence challenges.
The race will begin at 10am on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Pricing schedule is as follows:
$35 until June 1
$38 from June 2 to June 24
$40 from June 25 to race day

When & Where
We love people. We love Chicago. We love trail running. And we love good beer. We thought it would be a good idea to combine them all. Why not, right?
Our goal is to provide Chicagoland with the best possible trail running experience. From the course design to the staff at the aid stations to the beer served at the after party, our #1 goal is for you to have the best time possible.
We are partnering with local small businesses in the Chicagoland area to start a series of trail races beginning in the fall of 2012.
Hope to see you on the trail soon!
