Event Details

Storytelling for Schoolagers will be back in SEPTEMBER!

NOT for babies, toddlers & preschoolers: KINDERGARTEN-PLUS only.

Something cool after school!

No, not a story time; story telling.

Traditional-style storytelling creates unique images in the mind of each listener.  School-agers & adults alike will love these captivating, hilarious tales—all told without a book.

Join the Menlo Park Library’s resident tale-spinner, Storyteller John Weaver, for our NEW Thursday Afternoon Elementary School-Age Storytelling series!

 For elementary schoolers

& their adults ONLY!

Please Remember:

* School-age plus only. No one under Kindergarten will be admitted.

* No cell phones or other e-gadgets, please (this includes adults).  This is an interactive activity for everyone in the room!

How to Get the Most Out of the Event:

PARTICIPATE!   Listen, engage, and take advantage of the many opportunities to interact with the storyteller and the stories.

PRACTICE GOOD GROUP ETIQUETTE.   Please help us create a great environment.  Arrive early, silence & stow away electronic devices before the program starts, and save side chat until after the program is over.  If it’s not feeling like a good listening day, it’s fine to leave quietly & try again next time!

CHILDREN DEMONSTRATE APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR.  Children attending this event must be able to practice good elementary-school-appropriate behavior.  The ability to sit still, listen, and interact appropriately for 30-40 minutes are essential for the success of the event, and for everyone's enjoyment.  If a child for some reason is unable to do so, it is essential for the parent or caregiver to step in quickly to correct the behavior or take the child from the room.

EXTEND THE EXPERIENCE!  Visit the library’s folktales section (398, both in the adult & youth sections), and check out some more stories.  Look for versions of your favorites, & find some new ones!  Try telling one of your favorite stories to someone you know (and feel free to spin it your own way).  Write and/or illustrate your own version of one of your favorite folktales.
