Terrance Lyles, Founder, Men Run Deez Streets

MEN RUN DEEZ STREETS, INC (MRDS) is a group dedicated to helping Men in urban communities take fitness seriously. Founded in 2013, in Chicago by Terrance Lyles, Dale Morrison, Baron Rush, Iman Sadiq and Reginald Williams, MRDS inspires, encourages, supports, and coaches Men to adopt running and fitness as a consistent, healthy lifestyle.  MRDS recruits Men ages 18 and over of all backgrounds to help us move forward with our mission to become examples of health and fitness in our communities. As most of us are aware, the health of black men is challenged by many factors including sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy food choices, stress, micro-aggressions to self esteem, lack of access to quality health care, alcohol and drugs. As leaders of the community, we want black men to be at the forefront of modeling a way of life which can drastictly reduce diseases in our community such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and stroke.  We believe through healthy eating habits and lifestyle that we can change communities from the ground up. MRDS supports running and multi-sport clubs all over the city of Chicago including Black Girls Run! (BGR), Women Run the World! (WRTW), Sole-Tri-Sisters (STS), Team Run Burn Shrink (RBS), Elijah Running Club, Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) and other fitness teams in their quests to help our communities grow in health and wellness. It takes a village to inspire others and to accomplish our mission of bringing a multitude of men into a healthier way of life. Because MRDS refuses to allow financial barriers to prevent our members from transforming their lives and communities, our membership, all of our activities, lectures and training are either free or at a nominal fee. Please support us and be a part of the fight to improve the health of our men and communities through running.
