Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills presents  MEN AT THE CROSS  ½ day Men’s Conference kicking off with a special message for men by Pastor Dave Rolph. Then its off to the specialized workshops of your choice. These workshops are led by a host of respected Pastor’s, Christian Workers and Speakers who are experts in their field.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the various tasks; Coordinators, Coffee, Greeters, Sat Set up, Sat clean up, Audio Video, Friday set up (Noon to 3PM), & Snack Team.

There will be a special meeting for all helpers on May 22 from 1:30PM to 2:30PM in the Fellowship Hall at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills. Lunch provided. Come on out and we’ll give you all the training you’ll need for participation on any of the above teams. You can help and also attend the conference.

Workshops

Title: Passing Your Faith to the Next Generation

Description: How do I raise my kids in the faith? How can I parent my children so they will embrace Christianity? While there are many great books recently exploring this topic, the best advice comes from the Old Testament. Deuteronomy 6:4 provides a roadmap for passing our faith to the next generation. This session is filled with personal examples and stories from the McDowell family that will encourage and equip you for your own. This talk is both motivational and practical for those concerned in raising kids according to the biblical model.

This workshop is offered once, Round 1 (10:00AM to 11:00AM)

Speaker: Sean McDowell

Bio: Sean McDowell is a gifted communicator with a passion for reaching others with the Gospel message. He connects with people in a tangible way through humor and stories while imparting hard evidence and logical support for viewing all areas of life through a Biblical worldview. He serves as Head of the Bible Department at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools where he teaches Philosophy, Theology, and Apologetics.
As a high school teacher, Sean has exceptional insight into the prevailing culture and imparts his observations poignantly to fellow educators, pastors, and parents alike.
In 2008 he received the Educator of the Year award for San Juan Capistrano, California. His apologetics training was awarded Exemplary Status by the Association of Christian Schools International. Sean is listed among the top 100 apologists. He graduated summa cum laude from Talbot Theological Seminary with a double Master’s degree in Theology and Philosophy. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Apologetics and Worldview Studies from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Traveling throughout the United States and abroad, Sean speaks at camps, churches, schools, universities, and conferences. He has spoken for organizations including Focus on the Family, the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, Campus Crusade for Christ, Youth Specialties, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Association of Christian Schools International. He is the national spokesman and a conference speaker for Wheatstone Academy, an organization committed to training young people with a Biblical worldview. Sean has also appeared as a guest on radio shows such as Focus on the Family, Point of View, Converse with Scholars, Stand to Reason as well as shows hosted by Hugh Hewitt, Frank Pastore, Michael Reagan, and others.

Description: What are the attitudes that God seeks to develop in today's Man of God? How can they lead to a life of fullness of joy? This workshop will include a study through Matthew 5:1-12

Speaker: Mark Presley

Bio: Mark was an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa 1979-1984, and was the senior pastor of of Calvary Chapel West Palm Beach, Florida. Mark is married with three children and currently is the dean of Calvary Chapel Bible College in Costa Mesa.

Title: Gain Control of Your Finances in Any Economy

Description: Learn about the impact debt has on our lives and how to eliminate it.  See what God says about money and learn how to become a better steward of your finances through saving, investing, and creating a realistic budget for your family.

Speaker: Chad Gremel


Bio: Chad Gremel is a Firefighter/Paramedic and the owner of CMG Financial Coaching. Showing people why their faith in Christ should be reflected in how they use their finances is one of his passions.  Everyone can learn to be a better steward of the resources God has entrusted them with if they learn to control their behavior.   Chad has graduated from Larry Burkett’s Crown Ministries course as well as from Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.  In addition, he is a Financial Peace University Coordinator and teaches the course at his church.  Chad has a BA in History and Business from UCLA and continues his studies by doing research on personal finance and how people can change their habits to become more successful with their money.  Chad lives in San Clemente, CA with his wife and two young boys.


Title: How to Find a Job (Part 1) & (Part 2)

Description: This course will train men in the art of landing a job. Men will be taught the effective use of modern resume building techniques to work with online job search systems.
These workshops will also teach helpful information on the interview process.

Speaker: Abraham Jankans

Bio: Abraham is the CEO and a co-founder of LaunchPad Careers, Inc., the parent company of Workforce 2.0. He brings over ten years of private and public sector workforce development experience in staffing, career development, and training.

Bio: Larry Enterline serves as the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship in Temecula, CA. He teaches at Calvary Chapel Bible College at Murrieta Hot Springs, CA. Larry and his wife Barbie have been married for 35 years and have four children who are all involved in the Lord’s work. Larry and Barbie are involved with training parents to reach their children’s hearts. They represent the National Center for Biblical Parenting.


Title: How to study the Bible

Description: This workshop will teach the inductive Bible Study method for learning how to know the Bible through learning the tools and skills to help us observe the text, dig out the meaning, and then apply it to our lives.

This workshop is offered twice;

Round 3 12:30PM to 1:30PM)

Speaker: Carl Westerlund

Bio: Carl was taught how to study the Bible under the tutelage of Howard Hendricks of Dallas Theological Seminary where Carl received his Master’s degree. Carl is the founder and dean of the School of Ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.


Title: How to love your wife as Christ loves the church.


Description: This workshop will look at the Biblical concepts dealing with marriage and the husbands role, learning to work though potentially destructive problems, and train husbands how to follow the Biblical mandate of love. We’ll also learn how to detect the most common stumbling blocks of relationships and -- most important -- how to avoid them.

Speaker: Ken Krikac


Bio: Ken Krikac has served in ministry for over 20 years, and has been educated at Calvary Chapel’s Bible College and School of Ministry. His wife Lindsay of 27 years has been by his side every step of the way. They have one adult daughter, Chloe. Ken serves as a pastor at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills in Aliso Viejo, CA.



Title: Deeper Than Information

Description: So often, we can read the Bible just for information, forgetting that God wants to have a personal up-close relationship with us. But, what makes your relationship with Jesus a personal relationship? This workshop will teach a simple way to read the Bible that will reach your heart and impact your life daily.  This information applies to adults as well as children, single as well as married.

Title: What “NOT” to do when you try to find Employment in today’s Job Market

Description : This Session is designed to handle the questions of “WHY DON’T I GET A RESPONSE” when I send my Resume into the “Monster Boards”, or to a Company. Obviously there is nothing wrong with your background because you did work before, it is the “METHOD” you are using to find employment in an entirely different job market. You need a “PLAN” and we can show you the most practical steps to take, to put you back into the market quickly. I will answer any of your questions and deal with the issues of why you are still unemployed & what you can do to make companies aware of your availability. There is nothing wrong with your background, it is the method by which you attempt to make people aware of your Skill sets.

Bio: Bill has have been in the Executive Search / Outplacement / Career Counseling business for over Thirty Five (35) years, and has seen all types of situations that reflect the process of finding employment.  A Public Speaker at Seminars  for the Unemployed in addition to being a Director of Training for a 15 Division Search Company,  Managed Western Division of one of the largest Executive Search Firms in the country, been Director of Training & Divisional President.  So he brings to you a wealth of information that may assist you in your own Search for Employment and allow you to restructure your Marketing Game Plan for Employment.


Title: Glorifying God Through Christ Centered Recovery

Description:  This workshop will give the vision for Christian recovery within the church, Ten-13 format, topics including denial, powerlessness, surrender, confession, accountability, and the 12 steps and biblical principles found within them. Ten-13 is the recovery ministry at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills and is based upon 1 Corinthians 10:13 . . .  "But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it."

Speaker: Scott Rabon

Bio: Scott is member of the worship team and the leader of the Men's Group at the Ten-13 recovery ministry at Calvary Chapel Pacific HIlls, helping men gain victory over drug, alcohol,  and other addictions.


Title: Being an Effective Witness

Description:  Sharing the Gospel is difficult for many, and sharing it in the workplace even more so. In this workshop, we’ll look at what makes sharing difficult. We’ll talk about ways it can become a more natural part of your life, both on and off of the job.

Speaker: Jeff Henneforth

Bio:  Jeff Henneforth isn’t afraid to say that he loves God. It is his privilege to be living as a missionary in Cambodia where for the last year he has been working with local Christians to start a school to train village pastors. Before moving to Cambodia, Jeff was an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills. Jeff has also worked in the business world as an attorney and in sales.


Title: Disciplines of a Godly Man

Description: This seminar will help men in a practical way who seek to honor God with their daily lives.  The Christian disciplines of mind, soul, and body are more the exception, not the rule today.  In I Timothy 4:7-8, we are told to "discipline ourselves for the purpose of godliness".  We will explore how this looks in a man's marriage, relationships, purity, anger, work, leadership, and character.  If there is a spark of spiritual desire for discipline in your soul, then this seminar is for you.  Come learn how to be more effective in your daily life.

Speaker: Brent Wagner

Bio: Brent is the Senior Pastor at Voyage Calvary Chapel, in Fountain Valley, Ca. He is married with three sons. He has been serving in ministry for 24 years, and is a graduate of Calvary Chapel Bible College Graduate School.
