About The Class
The Cornerstone Membership class is divided into four major Sections. During the Introduction the Scriptural basis for church membership is provided, the concept of church community is defined, and the necessity of purposeful, loving Christian commitment is explained. Section One provides an overview of the Gospel message and its centrality to authentic Christian living. Section Two addresses major Biblical doctrines and their relationship to daily living. Section Three provides an introduction to ecclesiology, i.e., the nature and function of the church, and the role of the individual in that body. Section Four deals with living out Gospel Truth in the context of Christian community. It also explains how the church, as a body of believers, accomplishes its mission.
The Membership Class is conducted in an informal, conversational manner. Ample time will be provided for participants to ask questions. A syllabus is provided to each class member. Very little note taking will be necessary, although the syllabus does include some fill-ins as well as space for notes.
