Meet the New Education Research Center (ERC) at UT Austin
Monday, November 18, 2013 from 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM (CST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Come learn about the exciting new Education Research Center (ERC) at UT Austin, its vast data offerings, and potential research opportunities at this free lunchtime colloquium by the LBJ School's Center for Health and Social Policy.
Dr. Celeste Alexander, Director of the UT Austin ERC, and Dr. Christopher King, Co-Principal Investigator of the UT Austin ERC and Director of the Ray Marshall Center, will introduce us to the uniquely powerful warehouse of longitudinal data in the UT Austin ERC and how researchers can use the data (for THECB-approved projects) to follow individual Texas students from their first day in school to their first day on the job.
Spanning from Pre-K through higher education (P-16) and into the Texas workforce, the UT Austin ERC's resources include data from the:
- Texas Education Agency (TEA)
- Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
- Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)
- And other sources of educational information for the state of Texas.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required for catering and communication purposes. Lunch will be provided to all those who registered.
We encourage the use of alternative transportation to get to the LBJ School. A number of Capital Metro bus routes have stops on the streets adjacent to the LBJ School (including the 10, 20, 21, 22, 37, FA, EC, CR, RR, CP, NR, LS, and WL routes), and four bicycle racks are available on the east side of the building. If you need to drive, paid car parking is also available in the Manor Garage to the south of Sid Richardson Hall ($6 for 1-2 hours).
