Two years after John announced on our honeymoon that he wanted to quit his job and "do something in cheese," we unlocked the front door to our very own cheese shop on February 11, 2010. We've been asked many times since, "Why a Cheese Shop?" and the answer is simple. After putting ourselves through cheese bootcamps, running a cheese club out of our house, attending cheese conferences, interning for French affineur Herve Mons, journeying through Europe, and eating our way through thousands of tasty cheese morsels, we honed in on our true passions: eating, talking, traveling, and spending time together. Over a bottle of wine one evening, we realized that working behind a cheese case would bring them all together.
"Meat" and Greet La Quercia: A Cured Meats Guided Tasting
Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 6:45 PM to 8:30 PM (CDT)
Prosciutto! Speck! Coppa! Guanciale! Salami! The list goes on.... Join us for Meat Class! Well, cured pork deliciousness from La Quercia to be precise.
Our La Quercia Meat Tasting class will be structured the same as our "Cheese 201: Meet the Cheesemaker" classes. Alongside La Quercia Rep Lucas, we'll walk you through a tasting of at least ten of their cured meats, depending on availability. The tasting will be accompanied by bites of cheese, olives, nuts, and Easy Tiger bread. We'll also bring out a number of additional pairings like jams and chutneys, depending on that evening's selection. Expect to not only taste some excellent charcuterie but to learn about the history of La Quercia and hear about other hot topics affecting the glorious world of artisanal charcuterie production in the United States!
Note: You may choose to separately purchase our recommended wine or beer pairings from the Cheese Shop prior to the class the day of the event. Should you choose to bring your own wine or beer, there is a $4 set-up fee. At the end of each class, we'll give you and your guests time to mingle and enjoy the Cheese House, while we cut-to-order any goodies from the class that you'd like to purchase so you can re-create the tasting at home. Personal delivery of deliciousness directly to your chair. Does it get any better than that?
A couple RSVP reminders: This class is $40 per person (plus processing fees). Once you click to purchase tickets, you will only have 5 minutes to complete your order. To pay with a gift card, click "show other payment options" under the "Order Now" icon. Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable and non-trasnsferable to other events. You will receive a confirmation email which you should bring along with you on class night. We allow individuals to reserve up to 4 seats (if your party is larger, contact us for information on private parties and tastings!). If you're unable to purchase a ticket, please sign up for our waitlist (once per person); we are often able to accomodate guests off this list. Lastly, remember that you can come into the Cheese Shop anytime and taste cheese and charcuterie for free. Our cheesemongers are here to guide you through the case and answer any questions.
