Honor Our Heroes.
We can spend the weekend running through the woods for fun because of our freedom. That freedom was bought with a price. To celebrate Memorial Day and to honor all of those brave women and men who have given their lives to protect our great country, we are proud to support the Wounded Warrior Project with our MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY 5k, 10k, & 15k trail races. All money raised will go directly to the WWP so they can continue supporting those who have fought so bravely on our behalf.
The MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY 5k, 10k, & 15k trail races are the perfect way to kick off your Memorial Day weekend. The beautiful, tree lined course will challenge you to dodge rocks and roots, jump over downed trees, and battle other natural obstacles along the way. The races will begin and end in the beautiful Arie Crown Forest, which is conveniently located directly off the Stevenson Expressway (click here for exact location of the start/finish).
Following the races we will have the normal post-race snacks (bananas, pretzels, soft drinks, etc.) as well as a free Chicago-style hot dog bar with enough pickles and celery salt to replenish your electrolyte levels (leave your ketchup at home!). There will also be locally crafted beer available for purchase.
All registered runners will receive a MAYDAY t-shirt, a finisher’s prize, a race bib, and the pride that comes along with finishing a race while also contributing to a worthwhile charity.
The races will begin at 10am on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Course maps and participant waivers will be posted here at least one month before the race.
All 5k finishers will have this race count towards the “Fratrum Minorum” and “Plenary Indulgence” challenges. All 10k & 15k finishers will have this race count towards the “Popes of Avignon” and “Plenary Indulgence” challenges.
Price schedule is as follows (5k/10k/15k):
$25/$30/$35 until April 1
$28/$33/$38 until May 1
$30/$35/$40 until race day
When & Where
We love people. We love Chicago. We love trail running. And we love good beer. We thought it would be a good idea to combine them all. Why not, right?
Our goal is to provide Chicagoland with the best possible trail running experience. From the course design to the staff at the aid stations to the beer served at the after party, our #1 goal is for you to have the best time possible.
We are partnering with local small businesses in the Chicagoland area to start a series of trail races beginning in the fall of 2012.
Hope to see you on the trail soon!
