Please join us as our guest to play what was dubbed one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour, when it hosted the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic (soon to be renamed the FedEx St. Jude Classic). Colonial can be summed in the following quote by T. Alan Armstrong, "Champions do not become champions when they win [an] event, but in the hours, weeks, months, and years they spend preparing for it." Colonial, as a championship facility, knows no limits when it comes to preparation and the result, championship performance.
The format for the event will be a Captain's Choice scramble. For a bit of history, during the second round of the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic in 1977, Al Geiberger became the first player in history to post a score of 59 (−13) in a PGA Tour event. The record still stands with only 2 other PGA players able to tie the record. Can you name them. Curtis Strange said, "That course was one of the 3, 4, 5 courses I would have bet you would have never seen a 59 on". A par 72 measuring 7334 from the back tees, the South is without question one of the most challenging courses to play in the country and one of the most enjoyable. With tree lined fairways, Champions Bermuda greens, gorgeous lakes, and uncharacteristic elevation changes to the region, the South Course is truly a gem to behold. Will your team, with 4 members, in a "choice" formate be able to tie or even beat the low score of 59? We shall see.
We sincerely hope to see you there. For any questions or email RSVPs, please contact the event organizer, Craig Hohl at firstname.lastname@example.org or 615-712-4480
