CHRISTINE WEST & JOHN JACOBSON
CHRISTINE WEST | Architect and a Principal/Owner of KITE Architects
After earning her B.Arch. degree at Carnegie Mellon University, West spent several years working as an architect in the Washington, D.C. area. She then undertook a post-professional M.Des.S. degree at Harvard's Graduate School of Design to study innovation practices related to green building. With 20 years of experience, Christine is a strong believer in economically and environmentally sustainable urban neighborhoods. Her practice is organized around community-oriented projects that strengthen Rhode Island's uniquely valuable sense of place. Christine serves as Chair on the Providence City Plan Commission, and is a member of the the Building Board of Review, the City of Providence Environmental Sustainability Task Force. West is also the Secretary for the Providence Revolving Fund, and has formerly served as President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
JOHN JACOBSON | Founder of JTJ Investments
A graduate of RISD '94, Jacobson has over 20 years experience as creative businessperson and entrepreneur. As founder of JTJ Investments, Jacobson has designed and developed multiple adaptive reuse projects in Providence and Pawtucket with a focus on radical energy use reduction and renewable energy production. His project, the Wolcott Eco-Office, won the 2009 John H. Chafee Leadership in Conservation Award and earned Jacobson a congressional honor from Sheldon Whitehouse. Jacobson is board member of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA). He has been invited as a panelist and conducted workshops and seminars on building science and renewable energy since 2007. Jacobson is very active in community service working with New Urban Arts, The Green Jobs Committee for Workforce Development, The Urban Land Institute, Community Works, The Steel Yard and The Green Economy Roundtable (RIEDC).
