Event Details

Next lafcpug meeting will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 beginning at 6:45PM - till we drop at the Gallery Theatre in Hollywood Ca.

Join us Wednesday May 23 at the Gallery Theatre for another jam packed lafcpug meet.

Master Trainer Larry Jordan will show us how to move our audio out of FCP, FCPX or Avid into Adobe's newest, Audition.

Also Art Freed from Hot Pixel Post in Hollywood will wow us by showing us how he does “extreme looks” using DaVinci Resolve.

Also filmmaker and composer for TV and Film, Kenn Michael, will show how he uses Logic Pro to tackle any and every music challenge. He will score a scene live in realtime, first using available loops from Apple's included JamPacks, and then again without the loops in the traditional compositional workflow.

Bummed by the possibility that the Mac Pro is dead? The ProMax One might be the answer and Nate Cooper will show it to us.

Also, Stump The Gurus and of course, World famous raffle and MORE. Keep watching the next meeting page for updates.

You must register if you plan to attend.

Agenda (subject to change)

6:45- 7:10PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
Andrew BalisMichael Kammes and Larry Jordan as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:25PM - 7:50PM - ProMax One - Nate Cooper
So what do you do if the Mac Pro is dead? Need heavy iron for your work? The ProMax One might be the answer and you need to see it, touch it and understand it. See if for the first time at lafcpug. ProMax's Nate Cooper will show it off

About ProMax One
With effectively 16 separate CPU's in the system and each CPU handling two tasks at the same time, the ProMAX ONE can effectively work on 32 tasks simultaneously. When working with media and running high end software applications like Avid Media Composer® , Adobe CS5 ® and others, this additional processing power is critical. After editing on the ProMAX ONE, you won't be able to go back!

With 4 available boot drives, you can configure the ProMAX ONE with the ultimate flexibility for your workflow. Perhaps one drive is your AVID Drive,
One Drive is for color correction with DaVinci or Scratch and of course one drive is a cold boot backup for emergencies. And since these drive trays are removable, you can pop another one in when you need to.

7:55PM - 8:25PM - "Sound and Music Design with Logic Pro" - Kenn Michael
Logic Pro at $199.99 is an absolute no brainer must have tool in your toolset. Whether you're a trained musician or not, Logic gives you everything you need to create dynamic music and sound design. Kenn Michael, filmmaker & composer for TV and film, will show how he uses Logic Pro to tackle any and every music challenge. He will score a scene live in realtime, first using available loops from Apple's included JamPacks, and then again without the loops in the traditional
compositional workflow. This is a MUST SEE! Listen to some of his music on his website

Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lafcpug Platinum SponsorAJA. About Eric McClain
I began my professional career in 1992 as a telecine assistant at Henninger Media Services located in the historic Georgetown section of Washington, D.C.  There at Henninger we exclusively performed the mastering for the ad campaign of Bill Clinton’s first Presidential election.  The company also edited and color enhanced numerous documentaries for the award winning National Geographic “Explorer” television series.  Additionally, I worked closely with sensitive government materials gaining security clearances from the U.S. Government.
After several years of working in Georgetown, I relocated to Los Angeles in 1999. Since then I have served as the Director of Photography on a number of independent films and music videos.  I then obtained a Colorist position at The Post Group and have colored the dailies on popular television shows, which include Crime Scene Investigation (C.S.I.), House, Numbers, Law & Order, Dark Blue, Nikita and The Cape. I have also performed the dailies on the feature films Grindhouse, The informers, Hellride and Mean Girls 2 among others.
