Description

It’s very common for new and even experienced instructors to “inherit” a course…one that’s been offered in your school or department in previous semesters and taught by different instructors. In connection with your teaching assignment, you may have access to a wide range of resources associated with such a course, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, exams, and readings. The questions is what to do with these resources, so that you most effectively facilitate your goals for your students’ learning, while also making the course “your own.” By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to…

  • Make educated choices about which inherited materials to include in a course
  • Determine what adaptations to existing materials are appropriate, given departmental requirements, course learning objectives, and personal teaching style
  • Take ownership of an “inherited” course

Registration for CIDDE workshops is mandatory. Registering for workshops ensures the distribution of pre-workshop materials and helps maintain the integrity of our attendance records.
