Professor Mauro Ferrari is President and CEO, Ernest Cockrell Jr. Distinguished Endowed Chair at The Methodist Hospital Research Institute, and President of the Alliance for NanoHealth, in Houston. He is an internationally recognized expert in the development and application of biomedical nanotechnology. He published more that 200 peer-reviewed articles and has more than 30 US and international patents. He received several national and international prestigious awards from the National Institute of Health, the National Science Foundation, the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, the Department of Defense among others. His research program focuses on bringing nanotechnology to clinical medicine in several areas including oncology, cardiovascular medicine, infectious disease and diabetes. His research is bringing nanotechnology to address some of the important requirements of modern medicine from early diagnosis (platform for the detection of biomarkers) to personalized therapy (controlled-release implants, BioNanoScaffolds and nano-vectors).
PIB (Italian Professionals in Boston) is a non-for-profit association of young Italian professionals with the goal of promoting Italian excellence by fostering the creation of networks between the various components of the professional community in the Boston area. The organization- born in 2009- was co-founded by few friends and now counts over 500 Italian-speaking and 300 non Italian-speaking members, all in the Boston area.
