Meet actor Matthew Lillard (of Scooby Doo fame), who made his directorial debut with indie film, Fat Kid Rules the World, winner of the 2012 SXSW Audience Award. Lillard based his movie on K.L. Going's award-winning novel about an alienated and lonely teenager who finds his purpose through the magic of punk rock. The film boasts solid performances and an original score by Pearl Jam's lead guitarist Mike McCready.
Lillard talks about how he made it happen on a tight budget, and his experiences shooting in Seattle, where he encountered an "amazingly collaborative spirit."
