Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Japanese-based, Matsuura Machinery Corporation, will host a grand opening celebration and press conference on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11 a.m., with remarks by Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Saint Paul Port Authority President Louis Jambois, third generation owner Katsu Matsuura, Mirja P. Hanson, Honorary Consul General of Japan at Minneapolis and other notable officials. Matsuura is a world-wide leader in the manufacturing of precision machine tools used in a variety of industries. The company will focus its U. S. efforts on product importation and distribution as well as on training and technical support. Matsuura’s Saint Paul location expects to bring in $30 million in annual revenue and will be home to 24 employees, 4 of whom are on a temporary training assignment from Japan. In the next 18 months the company plans to have 30 employees on board. Worldwide, Matsuura brings in $170 million in annual revenue.
The grand opening celebration will be held at Matsuura Machinery USA’s new 38,000 sq.ft. facility in the River Bend Business Center, located at 325 Randolph Ave., Saint Paul, MN 55102. A light lunch and self-guided tours will be provided.
“Matsuura is a wonderful example of the type of high-quality companies and jobs that we are proud to have in Saint Paul,” Mayor Chris Coleman said. “Matsuura’s products, well-paid staff and long-term commitment to our community represent the kinds of partnerships that are worth celebrating. Welcome to Saint Paul!”
In 2012, Matsuura Machinery Corporation announced the planned opening of a U.S. headquarters in Minnesota to better serve their customers and the U.S. market, and to continue to improve machine tool technology and productivity. Matsuura currently has 10,000 installations in the U.S.
The new facility includes a large showroom and demonstration area, conference and training rooms, accessories and spare parts storage, along with administrative, service and engineering application support. The company also is planning to add a spindle repair facility. Right now only two other spindle repair facilities exist in the world.
