Sneakers to Beakers (www.sneakerstobeakers.org) is a start up non-profit afterschool program whose mission is to inspire children through a multicultural, sports-based curriculum to become engaged in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, especially children who are currently underrepresented.
(Students in the United States are lagging behind their international peers in the STEM fields. In fact, American students are ranked 22nd in science and 31st in math when compared to other students in the international community.)
The program also includes physical activity related to material covered in the classroom and mentoring from STEM professionals and college students.
