MAS Jane's Walk-Activating the Brooklyn Waterfront: A Conversation Along the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway
Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a planned 14-mile landscaped route, physically separated from traffic with separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists. In this walk, we will have a conversation with experts from the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) about the Greenway’s future implementation and planning process, how it is connecting neighborhood parks and future open spaces, and its use of green infrastructure strategies to mitigate storm water events—all within the overall context of a revitalized Brooklyn waterfront. Points of interest include the historic neighborhood of DUMBO/Vinegar Hill; the bustling Brooklyn Navy Yard, including BLDG 92 and BGI’s restoration of the Navy Yard's former cemetery site into a flourishing new urban green space; and the booming Williamsburg waterfront.
Due to limited capacity within the Navy Yard, this walk is limited to 32 participants.
