The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law 

proudly presents a student-initiated

Maryland Attorney General Forum

for the Democratic Candidates

Pre-registraion is now closed. We encourage you to still attend without prior registraion. No registration will be required at the door. 

Free and open to the public.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. - Forum starts promptly at 5:00 p.m.
Reception (6:15 p.m. - 7 p.m.) with available candidates immediately following. 

Join us for an open forum among all four confirmed Democratic candidates for Maryland Attorney General. The student-initiated forum features an hour long, moderated discussion with approved questions solicited from the public and from University of Maryland, Baltimore faculty and staff. The last portion of the discussion will feature questions submitted by UM Carey Law School students.

Moderator:
Benjamin Smith, President of the Class of 2015
Smith graduated summa cum laude with Departmental Honors from the University of Kentucky, receiving Bachelors in Philosophy and Political Science. Before coming to law school, he co-founded and served as the president of a small non-profit organization devoted to community agriculture in impoverished communities. The organization has been honored by bodies ranging from the Clinton Global Initiative to the state legislature and Department of Education. He went on to publish a book on the paradigm, and the economic, environmental, educational, and health based initiatives that can be furthered through it.

At UM Carey Law, Smith serves as President of the Class of 2015, and is a member of the National Trial Team, the ADR Team, and the Journal of Business and Technology Law. He is also the Student Representative to the Faculty Administrative Committee, an Admissions Ambassador, and Peer Advisor. Smith’s work experience as a law student includes serving as a Thurgood Marshall Clerk for the Maryland Attorney General and a Judicial Intern for Judge Gauvey of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He currently works for the Committee on Homeland Security out of the U.S. House of Representatives in addition to sitting on the Young Lawyers Section Council for the Maryland State Bar Association.

Public parking is available across the street from the law school at the Baltimore Grand Garage, located at 5 North Paca St.
