FREE event, with no more than 15 employers with active employment opportunities and up to 60 wounded, ill or injured service members transitioning to a civilian career, as well as their spouses, caregivers and recently medically separated veterans. To attend, service members must have previously completed either a USO/Hire Heroes USA transition workshop or another employment preparation program, and have resumes.
Career Opportunity Days are high-touch, non-traditional career fair-type events. Employers receive resumes in advance for those that have pre-registered, and connected for one-on-one introductory interviews to take place during the Career Opportunity Day. HHUSA matches attendees with employers based on their military specialty, previous experience, and geographic interest for relocation. Service members and spouses have the opportunity to schedule interviews with employers on-site, as they visit each employer’s information table and learn more about the company.
Employers are encouraged to conduct the interview and then provide honest, friendly feedback on what the service member did well during the interview and what they could improve upon in future interviews as they look to transition from their military career to the civilian sector.
