Transcendent Man, with Director Barry Ptolemy
Manifest Digital will host the Chicago premiere of Transcendent Man on July 25 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Omnimax Theater at the Museum of Science and Industry, 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive. Transcendent Man is a documentary film that considers the theories of visionary inventor Ray Kurzweil and their meaning for the human species. Attendees will not only be able to view the film, but will have a chance to ask questions of the director afterwards

Creating the 10,000 Year Clock, with Alexander Rose
As recently covered in Wired, The Long Now Foundation is creating an engineering marvel: a clock that will run for 10,000 years. With the purpose of fostering long-term thinking, this project is being overseen by the Foundation’s director, clock designer and clock project manager Alexander Rose, who will present on the creation of the clock.
Clock designer and The Long Now Foundation executive director Alexander Rose will present an overview and update on the project at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave. from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 27.
