Triple negative breast cancer is one of the most aggressive subtypes of breast cancer. A diagnosis of TNBC means that the tumor in question doesn't exhibit any of the three known receptors and therefore cannot receive receptor-targeted treatment. Without any targeted treatments, TNBC tends to be more aggressive, more likely to recur, and more difficult to treat. For patients with triple negative breast cancer, early detection is not enough. More awareness and funding is needed to help develop targeted treatments to find a cure for patients with triple negative breast cancer.
