Event Details

In this two-hour class, participants will learn the basics for preparing simple pictures and rudimentary words for Blogspot, Wordpress, or two-page digital “newsletter” using freeware. This class includes:
           • Preparing text and photos to bring into a digital environment.
           • Organizing it into a professional-level hierarchy (order of importance for how the reader should read/view the material).
           • Publishing to the Internet (or the old-fashioned manner, print).
           • Interaction and critique.
While this class is geared towards beginners, mid-level and pros are welcome as well to bone-up on the designer-angle of digital media.
There will be a trouble-shooting session, plenty of Q&A bring examples of your best and most disastrous attempts. Sharing is a key element in this class, so its great if you’ve never even done anything like this before and just want to learn how, or you are responsible for digital media in a small, medium, or large organization.
Bring your laptop to follow along and share. Or come on your own to absorb. Note: There’s loads of free software available on the Internet to do the same things as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The trouble is, how to know which is dependable and easy to use (some stuff downloaded from the worldwide web can actually crash your system!)
In this workshop, the following outcomes can be expected:
           1. Everyone will walk away with a basic understanding of the goals of designing for digital media.
           2. Everyone will walk away knowing what freeware to download.
           3. Everyone will walk away with tips on how each works.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their own laptop. Please note that the purpose of this class is to provide information. NoteWhile Mrs. Collins will do her best to accommodate all participants, please understand that the entire class is limited to two hours in total, so individual technological trouble-shooting may not be possible within the framework of this class.
