The Entrepreneurship Center at Nunez Community College is hosting “Making Your Business Idea a Reality,” featuring guest speaker, Gary Harrell of the Urban League of Greater New Orleans, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Music Room.
The presentation is the Center’s second in a new series of workshops designed to offer small- and future business owners insight and training from successful business leaders. The presentations will cover an array of entrepreneurial and business topics including incubation, social media, marketing, financing, and management—all factors that small businesses and start-ups must consider in order to become profitable and sustainable.
The Urban League’s Women Business Resource Center (WBRC) works in eight parishes, promoting small business and offering “training, assistance and resources to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to help improve management skills, strengthen enterprise, and increase businesses’ capacity for success,” according to the WBRC. Some resources include one-on-one and online counselling, financial analysis, business and marketing plans, and finance and loan packaging. According to the WBRC, “Most services are free; however, more complex services are cost-shared expenses.”
