Making Medicinal Herbal Products

We will discuss the various types of herbal medicine (teas, tinctures, oils, balms, liniments) and the importance of making your own medicine for your clients or friends. We will cover equipment and ingredients needed to make the most common herbal products. This class will bring a deeper understanding of herbal medicine and build your clients' confidence in you and the herbal medicine you prescribe. We will make several products in class for you to take home or give out as Christmas gifts. Supply fee of $25/person
About the Instructor: Jessica Baker has been studying herbal medicine for over a decade, beginning in 1999 at the Dandelion Herbal Center in Kneeland, CA. In 2001, she had the opportunity to complete a Community Herbalist Certification Program with Christopher Hobbs, LAc in Southern Oregon. In his program, she was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic techniques, theories and herbs. This was the catalyst for her study of TCM at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA where she received a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Jessica holds a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine through the NCCAOM and is a Licensed Acupuncturist in California and Colorado. While pursuing her Masters Degree she studied Medical Qi Gong and became certified as a Medical Qi Gong Practitioner. She has studied Medical Aromatherapy through the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy and with Taoist Master Jeffrey Yuen. Jessica is the President of Jade Dragon Acupuncture and has a thriving private practice in Arcata, CA. Her passion for Herbs and Aromatherapy combined with the richness of Chinese Medicine gives her a unique approach to her clients’ health. Jessica is also the co-founder of the Humboldt Veterans Acupuncture Project, providing free acupuncture treatments to those military persons with PTSD, posttraumatic stress disorder. Through her work with the Project, she hopes to help reduce the stress of war time combat and help veterans integrate back into society. Jessica is a Continuing Education Provider for Acupuncturists and Nurses and currently teaches at the Arcata School of Massage.

Refund Policy: You may drop a course by written request only (phone calls are not acceptable). Full refund will be granted to dropping the class 1 week prior to the course start date. Dropping the course after this date and up until the first instructional session will receive a 50% refund, with the exception of a 1-day course which is non-refundable. All courses dropped after the first instructional session are non-refundable.
