Event Details

Saturday, September 28 from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 5 from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Sewists with some machine-sewing experience are invited to join Sarah Terry for this fun bag-making series. Folks ages 15 and up are welcome! Like a mail sack, this purse is effiecient and comfortable but it's much cuter!

Learn to read a commercial pattern, install a zipper, apply fusible interfacing, and understand how bags are assembled and finished. After you make one Mail Sack in class, you'll want to make more for holiday gifts!

Bring your own machine, or sign up early to reserve one of four shop machines.

In addition to the series fee, participants will need to purchase/provide:

  • zipper foot (if you are bringing your own machine)
  • Mail Sack pattern*
  • up to 3 yards of fabric for purse exterior, interior, and pockets*
  • up to 2 yards of interfacing*
  • zipper*
The items below are optional. Our classroom is stocked with these items but bringing your own ensures less waiting time for supplies.
  • fabric-marking pen*
  • sewing scissors*
  • paper scissors
  • rotary cutter*
  • ruler*
  • pins*
Starred items are available for purchase at Sew Memphis for a 10% class discount.
