“WHO'S IN YOUR TEEN'S VILLAGE?” with Kent Pekel, Ed.D., President and CEO of the Search Institute
Thursday, May 1, 2014, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
M-A Performing Arts Center (PAC)
Do you know who’s in your teen’s village? All teens need to learn how to build strong, supportive non-parent relationships for success in school and in life. How can your teen develop this important skill?
Join us for an exceptional evening with Kent Pekel, Ed.D., President and CEO of the Search Institute. The Developmental Assets® framework created by Search Institute is the most widely used approach to positive youth development in the United States and, increasingly, around the world.
Search Institute's newest research-to-practice initiative focuses on strengthening “Developmental Relationships” that help young people attain the psychological and social skills to live well and thrive.
The presentation will include a short video featuring the stories of M-A students impacted by adult mentors, a keynote address by Dr. Kent Pekel, and a moderated Q & A with Lisa Medoff, Ph.D., Stanford University.
Dr. Pekel is an educator and administrator who has worked at the school, district, state, federal, and university levels. He holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University, a Master’s in Education from Harvard, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Minnesota.
