Margarete Diaz Cuadros, 2014 Columbia College Valedictorian
Margarete Diaz Cuadros was a biochemistry major with a concentration in evolutionary biology of the human species. Diaz Cuadros, who is originally from Lima, Peru, came to Columbia because of the science research opportunities. Margarete plans to continue her research and pursue a Ph.D. in molecular genetics.

The LUPE Fund, Inc. is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to Educate, Empower, and Engage Latinas to Promote Leadership and Civic Engagement. Our goals include providing educational programs and opportunities for Latinas in NJ; serving as an advocate in the development of public policy affecting the Latino community; promoting an increase of Latinas in civic leadership locally and statewide; collaborating with other women’s and children’s organizations on issues of common interest, such as health and education, with the purpose of advancing the Latino community. LUPE was organized in 2002 by Latina leaders with combined decades of experience in law, education, human services, business and public policy.
